A patented super-elastic endoscopic needle: a ½-circle taper needle — available in 26, 30 or 36 mm — deforms elastically through a 3.5 or 5.0 mm trocar, then fully recovers its shape. For laparoscopic surgeries where a large needle is required.
AKO MED is the exclusive manufacturer and worldwide distributor of the patented Super-Elastic Needle.
Over 1,000,000 SKUs across the full range, with ~400 most-used sutures kept production-ready. Everything else is made to order — always fresh stock, configured to your exact specification.

Different tissues regain strength at very different rates — skin and mucosa in 5–7 days, fascia in up to 28. JOST absorbable sutures are engineered to deliver wound support across every window — and each is available in two resorption profiles, so the suture holds exactly as long as the tissue needs.
Every JOST product code is assembled from five simple, human-readable segments — no cryptic catalogue numbers, no guesswork at the bench.
The suture thread material — e.g. PGA, Silk, Polypropylene.
The point geometry — taper, cutting, spatula, blunt…
Thread gauge (USP / EP) and strand length.
Needle size in mm and its curve (1/2, 3/8…).
Colour, count per pouch, sub-types, profile, pledgets.
Undyed, violet, white, green, blue or black — per material convention.
A needle swaged at each end of the thread — available on both standard and barbed sutures.
Standard sutures: both thread ends swaged into one needle, forming a single static loop. Barbed sutures: a small end-loop (or stopper) for a knotless start.
Two profiles available for every absorbable suture — unique on the market.
Standard Smart Box of 12 sachets; 24 or 36 per box on customer request.
14+ specialty needle options available on request.
Every JOST needle is drawn from fine 300-series stainless steel, silicone-coated, and swaged directly to the thread — one continuous, atraumatic unit with no eye to drag through tissue. On explicit request, 400-series needles can also be supplied.
Fine stainless steel for high torsional strength.
Every needle coated for smoother tissue penetration.
Non-reflective black option for endoscopy and microsurgery.
Needle and thread are one piece — the channel matches the thread.
State-of-the-art design — the box itself is engineered as a dispenser, so sachets stay accessible down to the very last one.
Standard Smart Box of 12 sachets, with 24 and 36-piece formats available on customer request.
EO-sterilised in-house, each suture in its own sealed pouch. Single sterile barrier as standard; double barrier optional on customer request.
Every pack carries UDI, LOT, expiry and the harmonised symbols.
Box dimensions reduced to the practical minimum — without compromising the primary packaging — cutting shipping costs to your destination.
Recyclable format, produced to order for fresh stock on arrival.
